Improper handling of household hazardous waste (HHW) can harm the environment and public health. Several HHW drop-off sites located in Fresno County provide a safe and responsible way to manage these materials, preventing illegal dumping and ensuring proper disposal.

This service is for household items generated by residents and not businesses.
Drop Off Available: Fridays and Saturdays, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Limit: Household items and small quantities only, with a maximum of 125 pounds or 15 gallons per visit/vehicle. Customers may make multiple trips while the facility is open.

Businesses

This service offers an affordable way for businesses to dispose of hazardous waste. To participate, businesses must pay disposal costs and be Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generators (CESQG). See below for more details.
Drop Off Available: Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Limit: No more than 27 gallons or 220 pounds of hazardous waste per trip
Requirements: You must transport only your own waste in a vehicle owned by the business and adhere to packaging and labeling guidelines.
Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generators (CESQG)
A CESQG is a business that generates a limited amount of hazardous waste and qualifies for specific, less stringent regulations. The CESQG program offers several benefits, including a low-cost way to dispose of hazardous materials safely and legally. Businesses only pay for disposal, avoiding additional pick-up or transportation fees since they deliver the waste themselves. Additionally, participating in the program provides enhanced protection under "cradle to grave" laws, ensuring long-term liability protection for the waste your business generates.

Reuse Center
Fresno County, in collaboration with Clean Earth Environmental Solutions, Inc., has set up a recycling program for chemical materials collected at the facility. Items meeting the program criteria are transferred to the Reuse Center, located in the Environmental Compliance Center (ECC), where county residents can pick them up at no cost.
The Reuse Center provides access to a range of recycled household hazardous waste items, including paint, chlorine, pesticides, herbicides, and more. This initiative benefits everyone by offering useful products for free while reducing costly handling and disposal expenses for the facility.

City of Clovis HHW Drop‑Off Center
The City of Clovis offers a convenient and secure location for residents to safely dispose of household hazardous items for free. Simply place your items in your trunk or truck bed and remain in your vehicle. Staff will assist with unloading, making the drop-off process quick and easy.
