AMERICAN AVENUE (KERMAN) HHW FACILITY IS PERMANENTLY CLOSED
Hours of Operation:Residential HHW: (Free/No Cost) - Fridays and Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (Except Holiday weekends. 2023 Holiday closures are April 8, July 1, November 25 and December 23). No appointment needed. Limited to household items and small quantities (125 pounds per visit/per vehicle). Call (559) 600-4259 for information/regulations that apply to larger loads or unusual items.

Mattresses, firearms and large appliances require special handling once consumers no longer need them. Our Special Handling Program procedures have been established to develop safe disposal options in your community.REUSE CENTER
The Fresno County Regional HHW Facility also has a Reuse Center available to all Fresno County residents at no cost. The County and its Contractor, Stericycle, Inc. have undertaken a program of recycling household chemical products selected from items collected at the County’s Regional, Permanent HHW Management Facility (HHW Facility). Items brought to the HHW Facility are screened and those that appear to meet program criteria are transferred to the Reuse Center. County residents are encouraged to pick up free items from the Reuse Center and use them for the purposes they were originally intended. Everyone saves! County residents are not charged for the recycled items and the HHW Facility avoids costly handling and disposal fees associated with more traditional management options.

What’s the Environmental Compliance Center (ECC)
The Fresno County ECC is a facility that helps residents reuse, recycle and responsibly manage their household hazardous waste. The ECC provides all residents with a location to properly dispose of hard-to-handle or special wastes for free. In the future, the ECC will offer educational opportunities and help residents develop a more sustainable and environmentally friendly understanding of HHW, recycling and more.

Why Disposal Matters in Fresno County
Common HHW items require specialized handling and disposal methods. If not handled properly, HHW can cause harm to the environment. The ECC makes it not only safe but also easy to dispose of HHW. The ECC provides easy access for the community through a centralized location, additional access days, and multiple levels of safety measures. As a result of being centrally located to most of the County’s residents and businesses, the ECC will decrease illegal dumping of HHW materials on streets, in canals, rural areas, and in the stormwater basin.
